HIGHLIGHTS

Mbuwa Kachinga is a multidisciplinary Speech-Language Therapist, Communication and Developmental Specialist, and Registered Professional Counsellor with over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults across clinical, educational, university and community settings.

She holds a Master of Education in Speech, Language & Communication Disorders and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Zambia. Her unique combination of expertise in communication disorders, psychology and counselling allows her to approach speech and language development from a holistic perspective—considering not only how an individual communicates, but also the developmental, emotional, behavioural and learning factors that may influence their ability to thrive.

Mbuwa has extensive experience conducting speech and language assessments and designing individualized interventions targeting articulation, expressive and receptive language, communication development, developmental delays and neurodevelopmental conditions. Her clinical experience also includes supporting children with autism and other developmental differences, developing and monitoring Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), implementing play-based interventions, and working closely with parents, caregivers and educators to support communication development beyond the therapy room.

Beyond clinical practice, Mbuwa brings considerable expertise in early childhood development, literacy and educational assessment. She has participated in and led teams on major research and programme initiatives involving organizations including USAID, UNICEF, World Vision, NORAD and the Government of Zambia, with experience administering and supporting standardized developmental, literacy and educational assessment tools. She is also a co-author of a USAID-funded national technical report examining Early Childhood Development systems in Zambia.

Mbuwa is an experienced university lecturer and educator, having taught in areas including psychology, child and youth development, counselling, workplace psychology and wellbeing, research methods and service learning. Her experience in training and capacity building extends to teachers, parents, facilitators and other professionals, particularly in the areas of communication development, early intervention, inclusive education and child wellbeing.

At Eleveight, Mbuwa brings together her expertise in speech and language therapy, developmental support, psychology and education to provide individualized, evidence-informed care.
